Arrow is a special show. It starts out more darker and grounded than most super hero shows and movies would. It expands the universe over time building in to the biggest shared TV universe. Oliver Queen is a great protagonist who has mostly great seasonal stories and arcs as well as an amazing overall 8 season arc. Season one is a great grounded and dark origin story that has a great villain with great action writing and acting for the most part. It has a solid origin story for Oliver and has a great mystery throughout the season. It has great side characters that are introduced as well. Season 2 expands on the show in every way with a better villain better writing, acting and action. It embraces more comic book fictional aspects while still managing to keep it a bit more grounded and dark. Season 3 falls a bit shorter to the previous seasons but is still an OK season with some great moments sprinkled in between. It tries to incorporate more comic book elements and tries to do a bit more drama. The increased focus on the forced drama is a major mistake that brings down the show in later seasons. Season 4 is where the show goes wrong with worse writing, action and bad drama. Season 5 redeems the show bringing it back to its roots with a great villain and more great action, acting, dialogue. Season six is another OK season with some good moments sprinkled throughout. Season 7 starts off amazing but falls flat after the mid season finale. Season 8 does a great job paying homage to the show and has some great character moments but is failed a bit by how heavily it tied to the crossover which fell kind of flat. Overall Arrow has some amazing seasons and moments which in my opinion out weigh all the bad and carry it making it a great show.
