Great book about difficult topic of slavery.
There are many picture books on this topic, but this one is different in that is it more uplifting as it tells a story of Peg Leg Joe and also other people who helped the slaves to escape from their masters. I think it is important to remember the good and brave people who were helping the slaves and this book helps to shine the light on them.
Fabulous art as well.

Nice, quiet book about a fidgety boy from the city who enjoys a trip to the national park. Exquisite illustrations, very real-looking, very much "photo-like". About 7.5 minutes to read. Nice occasional read or for bedtime.
This book won a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of the Year. Both, author and illustrator, are POC and they are from Oklahoma.
This book is not for everyone, but if you like deeper, more lyrical books or books about the beauty and power of nature then you will enjoy it.
