I’m not an expert on adapting books to tv or film. I read the books and I like the show. It’s a bit annoying at times to see how much is changed but ultimately it’s a huge undertaking to adapt this to the screen. The books came out before my parents were even born so I would prefer to see some diversity rather than a bunch of white males deciding the destiny of the universe. There isn't even that much character development until the later prequel and sequel novels. Take it for what it is. Inspiration. I love good sci-fi and this hits the spot for me.
