If you are looking for a quick fast paced read that will be like petrol to your brain is this book. The author displays his brilliant use of layered language in the pages which upon reading twice will leave you all in praise of the writing but I must add that the book will be more appreciated by adult readers. I felt that there was a lot of emphasis on surnames in the book which might be a great reflection on corporate culture but I personally found it slightly heavy in my reading experience of this book. The food references in/during meetings were very satisfying and presented in a smart and witty style to read. I can confidently say this is one of those book written lyrically and with a lot of layered and sprayed humour throughout the book reflecting our indian culture in every page that you would go through the gold reference of Indians and close the book with a child like beautiful cackle(a type of laugh) on your face. My most favourite part from the book is that it talks about Indian culture through analogies and metaphors which are HILARIOUS. My favourite one was the gold analogy with banks. Your parents will ask you - Are you okay? (After hearing audibly laughing sounds from your room where you are reading this book)

I recommend this book to all history lovers who say they don't have time and are stressed out with there jobs. Sheila Fitzpatrick's The Shortest History of the Soviet Union is a really good book. It's a clear, authoritative, insightful, and insightful summary of Soviet history that skips the technical terms that may sometimes make academic writings seem heavy. It covers everything from the Russian Revolution to the fall of the USSR. The author covers every significant event and theme of the time, including the Cold War, World War II, and Stalin's ascent to power. She also examines the everyday lives of Soviet citizens as well as the perspectives of marginalized groups like women, peasants, and ethnic minorities who are frequently ignored in Soviet histories. The princess diana quote in the book will win every readers heart.

My review of the book - Ashis Ray's Cricket World Cup: The Indian Challenge (Updated Edition 2023) is a must-read for every cricket fan, particularly those interested in the history of the Cricket World Cup and India's success in the competition. Ray offers his unique take on the greatest World Cup moments in history, as well as an examination of the variables that have led to India's success and failure. The author's mastery of the game is clear on every page of the book, which is well-written and interesting. He offers incisive analysis of important events in each World Cup, and his evaluation of India's performance is fair and impartial. The author also does an excellent job of outlining the many political and socioeconomic aspects that have shaped Indian cricket throughout the years. One of the things I loved best about the book was Ray's willingness to criticise India's performance in the Cricket World Cup. He pinpoints the areas where India has gone short and makes recommendations for how the squad can improve. This is encouraging, considering many cricket journalists are hesitant to criticise the Indian squad.

Book - Orlando King Author- Isabel Colegate My review- The book is 3 in 1, the writing style and pattern is so relevant even in today's time. Despite all this, Orlando King did not work out for me, in simple words, I was unable to finish it. I questioned myself multiple times, that is it the size of the book which is intimidating me? Is the book more for a political-philosohpical reader/audience? But then I came to this conclusion that this book will be more valued in the hands of a much elder audience who can appreciate the very depth filled context and can read between the lines perhaps also better understand the complexity of the characters. I found myself not attached, not attracted to the story. It was nice to meet Orlando and king both of which are 2 separete people. But ultimately, the writing of this book did not succeed in capturing my interest and attention completely to be able to finish this book. The protagonist is an actress working her way up through Hollywood. We get to see the inner working of the movie/Hollywood industry, of how agents work, of how one good movie can land you so much closer to your dream job and a nomination for an award. The drama and politics behind the casting and the wrong doings of the directors and other players involved is all part of what makes this book a different kind of a psychological thriller. But wait! My friend. Wait! Let's get to the fact that will make your brain cells dance out of anxiety. As crazy as my above sentence is, the same way my heartbeat kept increasing, page by page, I just couldn't stop. I know, you will too disappear just like me and will only appear back to the real world after you finish the book. When I say the devil, it means singular but as you go through the book, you will find yourself caring for Mia. Loving to doubting Emily. Then new characters come into play! We have a potential love interest too. This story reveals the bold truths of Hollywood mixed with a psychological thriller. Trigger warning for mentions of rape. But what if you had multiple enemies to face, but what if everything was a lie and you are all alone with the enemies protection in the end. Push-- Dead? Found? Saved both sides.!? Find out the answers to everything in the disappearing act. It is a pure masterpiece of a book.

Book - Iron Widow Author- @xiranjayzhao Suggested reading age according to me- 18+ My review- Iron Widow shakes your bones from the inside, it is like a (positive) thunderstorm in the book world. We meet our protagonist Wu Zetian, We meet ourselves in the book. Love triangle, Page turner, thriller are the words that will never do complete justice in describing this Sky high of a book. Iron Widow also promotes body positivity, well, it did for me. The author has crafted a tale using Chinese mythology but she makes it for everyone, she boldly writes the very much needed modern day truths that are required to be said aloud. Few examples being - we should be how we want to, we have to fight for our rights, we have to take control of our own life, We can and We should live the way we want to. Iron Widow is home for me because of its polite yet bold writing style through which the author has promoted body positivity. I respect you so much for this @xiranjayzhao The time that you will read this book, it will allow you to broaden your minds, it will make you take pride in your identity. It will tell you to live how you want and not by the society's rules. The title is literally a spoiler, if you take the title literally. You will know what I'm saying when you read the book. The protagonist is so angry throughout the book, I absolutely loved that. Then her sweet moments are gorgeous. Yes, there is a lot of war scenes but that would just make you realise the strength of your mental powers. Iron widow is a earth shaking story for today's life time. Huge respect to the author for including a pre-warning about some scenes before the starting of the story. (bookstacks_literature) Lemony Snicket brings us his thundering sharp writing with a sun shiny message. Book- Poison for breakfast Author - Lemony snicket My rating- 5/5 Suggested reading age- 15+ My review - Mr. Snicket breaks everything down and through his writing explains to the reader as if we were his children. Poison for breakfast is a very intense book that definitely cannot be put into one category. From philosophical ideas, to muder mystery, to teaching us the basic rules of writing, Mr snicket breaks the shackles and gives us Antidote in today's times where we can completely get lost in the book. I absolutely loved that Mr snicket did not expect his readers to know the meaning of difficult words, through his writing, it was so personal in nature as If he is tutoring me the way of life. There is wit, humour, sarcasm in mostly all of his books but poison for breakfast is the empress of literary devices and Mr snicket owns a great part of my reader heart now. The illustrations done by Margaux Kent certainly add a new flavour to Mr snicket's writing. I won't give you, the audience, poison by telling you a spoiler or explaining anything about the ending or a summary. I will give you my Audience, Antidote for Breakfast. Go read this. (bookstacks_literature) Book- The Girls in Green Author- Tanushree Podder My rating - 5/5 Suggested reading age according to me- 13+ My review- The Girls in Green is a behind the scenes story, The girls in green is a book where right from the start till the ending we get the complete fictional facts with the author's spot on reasearch. We see the news about about the line of control but do we ever get to see what went behind in the making of a brave military officer. Yes, this is the book for you if you want to see what goes into the making of an Army officer, specifically written from Female perspective. No organisation is perfect, gender bias, Questioning abilities, That will that wouldn't it be easier to just give up, these themes constantly run in the book and the author puts the spice of extra motivation and how we can overcome all difficulties and do everything that our heart desires. If you are from the Army reading this book, this book will make you nostalgic with the Academy days. Thank you @bloomsburyindia for this # gifted book.

(@bookstacks_literature) Book - Once upon a time in Hollywood Author- Quentin Tarantino My rating - 2/5 Suggested reading age- None Review- I'll come straight to the part that why the book did not work out for me 1) The plot, the book everything is very dragging, it's super slow and over descriptive. It makes me loose my attention, it's not gripping at all. 2) I understand that the book is the detailed version of the movie but still a lot of words used in the book was extremely disrespectful towards the African community and it just had too many swear words. Readers want a story, they don't want dialogues filled with Swear words which are unnecessary and have no point at all. A triangle has more points than this book. 3) It doesn't feel like a book, it feels like reading a script. I haven't seen the movie but the book definitely is'int worth anyone's time. 4) The story was just going here and there, maybe just haywired structure, I found myself skimming through in the final stages. Nothing made sense to me, it's just frustrating, that's the best I can put it as. The cover is attractive. Come let me take you to the world of Neil Narayan whose fictional story is brilliantly crafted by Sanjena Sathian. Review- The book captures the multiple faceted life of Indian Immigrant families in the US with the main focus on teenagers. The authors writing style is HILARIOUS, my favourite line from the book is "as indian as samosas". You are in for a rollercoaster ride filled with nostalgia (if you are an adult) of your teenage days. Lives are different but some things are very universal which is captured by the author in a very enthralling manner, the race to the perfect college -ivy leages for some, the unrealistic expectations of your peer group for a variety of things, The competition amongst parents that whose child is the best. But here comes the twist. What if, you would do anything to achieve that ambitious goal. What if, you are ready to harm others knowingly or unknowingly to achieve what you want. The book deals with modern contemporary scenarios like these with a hint of the past and a scent of historical tales coming to life! With lots of Gold with a magical edge brewed into the book. We have the classic teenager boy-girl drama as well and the fact that the author makes it so perfectly indian is GOALS. There were several grammatical errors in the book, which made the reading experience a little low. The book also deals with Suicide and how as a community sometimes we make and break each other. I would also call this a contemporary coming of age book with a hint of magic and an awakening ending.
