It was an okay movie but if you’ve read the book, it was not the best. I’m a big fan of the book Stargirl, have been since I read it in 7th grade. And I’m a big fan of Grace VanderWaal. However, I was pretty disappointed with the movie. The actors themselves acted amazing, music choices were super! Ever since I saw grace on AGT I knew she would fit the Stargirl character because of their uniqueness and her ukulele playing. But the whole story in the movie was pretty far away from the book. Big parts were missed like when when they go to the mall and follow people around. Or when Stargirl delivers cards to random people. Hillary wasn’t the bad character that I expected. The Hot Seat wasn’t as exciting, Stargirl was supposed to pretend she was in an actual hot seat. The tomato in her face was missed too. Her pet rat Cinnamon was rarely seen, and in the book he plays a pretty good part. What about the pebbles in her wagon? What about her recording the life story on her little kid neighbor? Her playing happy birthday to other kids? Her dancing in the rain? Maybe the story should of been made as the time it was written. Not the high technology era right now. The poem in the book should at least have been added in the movie. She was elusive, she was today, she was tomorrow...
