Barry Jenkins is a national treasure and has made bonafide stars out of both his leads.
Harsh yet beautifully and relentlessly told, it is story telling at its best. Special shout-out to eleven- year old actor Chase Dillon who was simply superb and executed his role flawlessly. Kudos to him.
It is a proud day for African-American filmmaking and excellence. I hope America can come to grips with this fine accomplishment and it’s raw depiction of human terror. But it is also delivered beautifully by Barry Jenkins and his collaborators-the cinematography and score is for the ages.
Last, the chemistry between the brilliant Thuso Mbedu and the mesmerizing Aaron Pierre was just captivating and dreamlike.
Finally, underrated Joel Edgerton will most likely be awarded for his three dimensional performance and rightfully so!!
