It was terrible, absolutely terrible. I’ve watched the series at least 3 times and I’m currently watching again but this movie is the worst of the Trollhunters’ material I’ve seen. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!! I’m always weird about time travel. I wanted to also save Toby but there was a better way of doing it other than resetting the entire series and making Toby the Trollhunter. Personally, I like him better as Jim’s bestfriend. I think he was able to challenge Jim and keep in him check which over the years allowed for his character to grow beautifully. I also like Toby’s comedic relief and his relationship with Aaarrrgghh, both of which I fear would be gone if he were the troll hunter. While I love Toby, I also hate how the movie only acted like it cared about Toby’s death…what about Nari, Strickler, and Nomura?? I grew to truly enjoy those characters, especially Nomura. It seemed like there wasn’t enough time to spend on those scenes emotionally but there was enough time to continuously show us a pregnant Steve, which did nothing for the plot. I was also bothered by the fact that we live in an environment today where “my body, my choice” is well represented but Steve, a teenager, was forced to get pregnant without being given a choice through a kiss. This movie was such a let down. Trying very hard to forget it was ever made.
