The Forgotten Army- Azadi ke liye
A Review
Please Note : no star rating can justify this mind-blowing work , done by the Director and his team. Truly a work which will be written in golden letters forever.
All those who always wanted to know the story of Azad Hind Fauj and it’s true fate........then here is a visual treat for you.
The story starts from World War II war scenes in Singapore in 1942 with Indian soldiers fighting under the British Imperial Army against the Japanese, and goes on till 1946 with a parallel present day story which overlaps interestingly with the older scenario through an aging INA colonel.
The Stupendous cinematography takes you through the old Singapore city captured by the Japanese troops and how 60,000 Indian soldiers were handed over to the Japanese by the surrendering British army. Thus forming the Indian National Army under Subhash Chandra Bose, which was to fight for India’s freedom from the British Empire.
With realistic battles and army camps meandering through the forests of Malaysia , Thailand and then Burma, the story of the Indian National Army is interwoven with sweet love stories and rib tickling humour and ultimate pathos of the situation the brave soldiers undergo.
The set of five episodes leaves you craving for more as so many questions remain unanswered in the mind of the viewer. The story of the INA has been shown so poetically and eloquently that one wishes that they should have received the honour they deserved in their lifetime.
Go ahead and watch this amazing slice of history !!
