I’m a huge fan of the books so I was obviously excited to watch the movie. I couldn’t believe how terrible it was. From reading the book I knew it wouldn’t be exactly like it, but I didn’t expect this. In the book, Emma is supposed to have the fire power and Olive is the one who floats. I have no idea their reasoning for switching the powers but it makes no sense to me. Enoch had a weird jealousy thing going on that was confusing and not relevant to the plot. The beginning was way too rushed and choppy and you get no clear history of the characters. The end was absolutely outrageous and completely different from the book. It looked like they tried so hard to make it some sort of light hearted kids movie but they just completely ruined it. I know that reading the books, I would be expected to have higher expectations, but I watched this with my boyfriend, who has not read the books, and he had no idea what was going on and agreed that the movie was trash. It’s so sad when such a good book turns into a movie like this.
