Reasons you need to watch Kate Winslet’s newest HBO murder mystery Mare of Easttown.
1. Kate Winslet in what is perhaps her best performance ever, as Mare Sheehan investigating the murder of a young girl. She is even better than she was in ‘The Reader’.
2. It is one of the most thrilling murder mysteries backed by a script which will keep you on tenterhooks every single minute of the show. Trust me when I say this, you will not hit that 10 secs forward option a single time.
The series launches with a shocking murder like most mysteries but it quickly builds up into something much more intense and perplexing. Each episode has plot twists which will leave you baffled and wanting more.
Easttown is claustrophobic with a melancholic aura. It’s residents who seem to be tied down to the wretched town with their despondent existences are dealing with grief and pain in their own ways yet there is something inexplicable which enlivens your spirits as you follow their journeys.
What I most loved about the show was how each of its characters is portrayed with numerous subtle layers; deep and patient. How raw their relationships and reactions are.
The cast which includes Jean Smart delivers exceptional performances and there is already rumours of the series, Kate Winslet in particular, surely bagging the Emmy next year.
The series has aired all 7!episodes already with the finale which aired on 31st May and the much awaited finale was even more brilliant than was expected. It is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
I don’t usually review books or shows or series on my Instagram page but I really wanted to share this one as I truly enjoyed it. Avoiding any #spoilers so no details about whether my suspicions about who the murdered is were correct or not 😀
Have you seen the series and who Is your murder suspect?
