I have been an amateur student & collector of the Garand for over 30 years. I received a copy of this book (at my request!) for Christmas. Today I was able to put it to successful good use in identifying rear sight lock bars on three of my rifles, each lock bar being different. The very clear photos & accompanying descriptions were excellent. I have four other reference books on the rifle, each having much to be praised about, yet none providing the clarity Larry Babcock has provided. The enlarged photos, although all black & white, as well as the simple descriptions of their individualities, makes it easy to identify the part the collector has in front of him/her.
