Absolutely loved this book, it has really stayed with me several months after reading. There is a notation style within the opening chapters that is confusing at first, naturally, but quickly becomes clear and a rich part of the fascination of its style. Similar the Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell, I felt like this struck a deep note of fascination in a manner of fantastical otherworldy-ness that remained somehow firmly rooted in a reality.

Come on now, this is a brilliant film, couldn't be more surprised at the low rating. Although, on reconsidering, perhaps I should be less surprised, the internet is a strange place. I couldn't recommend this film more, it has the feel of a classic, is utterly terrifying but strangely encouraging at the same time. The score is excellent and it is beautifully shot. If I had to recommend one horror film to someone I was certain they would love, it would be this.
