The film takes the classic story "Taming of the Shrew" and puts it into modern-day high school. Bianca Stratford is one of the most popular girls in school, but her strict father has one rule: she can't date unless her sister Kat is willing to date someone as well. Bianca catches the eyes of newcomer Cameron and self-absorbed Joey. In order to get what he wants Cameron pays the notorious Patrick to date Kat. However, his plan goes a little too well when the two genuinely fall in love. The amount of chemistry that Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger have on-screen is what makes this movie work.
