My favourite adaptation of Macbeth. While the Soviet aesthetics may seem to be purely spectacle, they reinforce the timelessness of the contrasting themes of ambition and loyalty in the play. Patrick Stewart also delivers a really good Macbeth, giving, in my opinion one of the best “tomorrow speeches”
