Renee Zellweger absolutely inhabits this role; there is no doubt that she is Judy Garland...until she sings. Shame on you Rupert Goold and on your executive producers for not taking a page from the Brian May/Bohemian Rhapsody book of making a biopic about an iconic singer: the VOICE is the star. I'm sure technology could have combined Renee's voice with Judy's and perhaps another skilled vocalist who sounds like Judy to come up with singing to knock your socks off. Definitely missing. The pacing of this film was stilted, which is a shame. Kudos to hair and makeup and costume design and to Renee, who gave a stellar performance despite the uninspiring downer of a script and plodding, uneven direction.
