This show does nothing for women's empowerment. Women are constantly brining each other down. The lead actress constantly seeks approval from her husband and needs to justify her position.
Sure the great love theme is opposites attract. This show goes beyond this. The lead pair don't share the same values. This show perceives marriage as an institution in which women need to continuously comprise their self worth. There are enough shows already perpetuating this archaic ideal.
The show does touch on social matter, but it becomes lost in the overriding need for Zara to justify her progress views to the person who should support her the most, her husband. Kabir on the otherhand is portrayed as an egotistical weak man, relying on opinions of others to make decisions. His character is leader of the community. Leaders think for themselves. Creators of this show could have made this a very interesting show but instead chose to walk the path which is already well trodden.
The world is changing. There's a point where an educated and privileged woman like Zara will stop turning up everyday to constantly prove her self worth to her in-laws.
Initially started watching because it was good to a see a positive portrayal of a strong Indian Muslim female. Instead turns out to be the same as every other show. Time to give up and change the channel.
