This show really faltered and I wanted to give it a chance because the premise sounded quite interesting to me. Focused around the #metoo movement of women standing up to their male predators the series focuses on some dark topics. The thing is the show is only as strong as their actors. Reese Withspoon’s Bradley is a hot-headed, stubborn woman’s activist put in to an anchor job who is in over her head but magically it all works out for her. She seemly is one of most complex characters on the show but ends up being a one note character that is actually quite annoying. Jennifer Anniston’s Alex is a character that wants to be in control but waivers to much and is written in a way that is more of a contradiction than complex. Anniston does a good job but at certain parts I see Rachel Green (her Friends character) come out, like when she gets confused or shows regret. Then there is Steve Carroll’s Mitch, sometimes he shows brilliance with the character, however when he breaks down or gets mad he feels too much like Micheal Scott (his The Office character). There are other character that appear to be pulling all the strings but instead of supporting the narrative it seems to confuse and ruin everything. You want to root Mitch but then you find out he is a predator. Because the series starts off with him being fired in the first minutes of the show - the viewer does not even get a moment to invest or like Mitch - so to root for him and have him turn to a guilty character is not the twist the series thinks it is. Not enough time is given to like the people you see on TV. And outside of the 3 main characters everybody else is forgettable. And so is the show.
