Much like the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie, it doesn’t follow the plot of the games, and it takes liberties with the source material in some places. However, just because it’s not a 1:1 of the entire games’ plot doesn’t mean you should kick and scream about it. If you want that, just go play the games for Christ sake. It’s a new experience, one full of multiple references and nods to the main games and dlc (I’m sure there are a lot more even I missed). Look, if you’re late twenties pushing thirties (or even older) and you ‘grew up’ with the games, I get it; as the original audience you guys get to pitch a fit all you want, whatever. But if you’re a part of the younger community and enjoy having fun and living a little, this movie is for you. Even after coming in with negative thoughts, I left the theater with a smile on my face.
TL:DR
If you like the Borderlands series, have an open mind, and aren’t a cranky, battered, deteriorating, middle-aged person, you’ll at least like it.
