I began watching having heard or read NOTHING about it. Turns out it's a PARODY, which I probably SHOULD have understood from the title.
In any case, I binged all eight episodes in one sitting. (No, I am not proud to have that much free time.)
That, in and of itself, tells me that it's good. It's engaging. I wanted to discover WHAT it was and WHERE it was going.
While it's a parody, it is certainly different than other genre-spoofing parodies of the past because the tone is not hit-you-over-the-head satire like Scary Movie. (I am dating myself.)
It really rides a fine line between reality and satire for most of the series. The actors (and the characters they are portraying) do not (often) seem to be in on the joke. They have been directed to play the truth of the (wildly exaggerated and ridiculous) circumstances in a pretty understated, truthful way. Very few eye-winking moments.
As a result, I can understand how this series could be very polarizing. It's pretty different than anything we've seen before.
With that said, if you are in the mood for some good entertainment, and watch with the mindset that this is a PARODY, I think you'll have a REALLY GOOD TIME.
