Gift of the Magi is a short story by O. Henry. It is a story about a couple who don’t have much. This story took place in New York on Christmas Eve. The theme of this story is you will sacrifice a lot when you truly love someone. This was the theme because they both sold their prized possessions to get a gift for each other for Christmas.Even they were struggling with their finances,they try to buy a Christmas present for each others.How delightful it is!I love how descriptive she was when explaining their gifts they got each other. O. Henry explained the chain Della got for Jim’s watch as golden, plain and simple, and it was made with rich and pure material. He described the combs Jim got Della as the combs she has wanted for a long time, they had jewels and were very beautiful and perfect for her long hair. The mood of the story was very heartfelt and loving because they both did all they could to get money to get the other an amazing gift for Christmas. I rate this short story a 5/5 because I loved the way O. Henry wrote it and the theme of the story.If I had a chance to rate it more than 5 star then I would rate it infinite. It was a cute story and I enjoyed reading it. I recommend this short story to anyone who likes sweet stories.
