This is a sorry excuse for a paper Mario game and does not do the series justice at all. This is my favorite franchise and Nintendo has got to get back to the basics and figure out how to redeem themselves on a follow up with a better rendition of the classics for N64 and GameCube. This game has superb graphics and the artisanal platform should give Nintendo an opportunity to create a great follow up game, but it’s lazy and effortless gameplay, weird antics, and unnecessary overemphasis on paper based criteria made this game infuriating to play. The bosses are the worst part; office supplies lack any type of creativity. The battles are pointless and lack any type of fun. While the chapters and boards are interesting and pose real possibilities, it is squandered by the characters that shadow Mario throughout his journey. I miss collecting items, badges and the good old fashioned battle system that was iconic. Nothing was broken here, but nintendo decided to screw with it anyway. Figure out a better story line Nintendo and get me TTYD 2.0. If you could do it in 2004, you certainly have the capability to do it now.
