At this point in Britt Marling's career, I think we have enough examples that it's safe to say if she is going to be involved in a project, it's going to suck... Or at the very least, be a total mess. She seems highly skilled at coming up with interesting ideas but then having absolutely no idea what to do with them. Every movie or TV show she's ever produced is like this and at this point it's such a strong pattern that we can't expect anything less. Terrible writing. Despicable main characters. Overly long, plodding shots that are initially beautiful but then overstay their welcome. Plot holes that you could drive a truck through and intentional, unnecessary confusion. Heavy handed propaganda... these are all hallmarks of Brit's projects and this show has all of this (and then some) in spades. I'd definitely recommend a hard pass.

An entirely contemptible and incoherent book. If we lived in the world these authors would like, this book should live in the banned/burned books pile. But the irony is that they have the free speech to publish this total drivel. The very idea that "academic freedom" is distinct from free speech as opposed to being part of it just shows that the "experts" are the least intelligent of us yet again.

Everything about this show is incredibly mediocre and generic with the exception of Stanley Tucci. And the writers even seemed to be trying as hard as they could to make HIS character predictable and formulaic. By the third episode (all that's been released so far), when the "romance" started being shoehorned into the story, I was bored to tears. The writing is downright terrible and the female co star could not be less believable as a "super spy." At least the male lead looked like he worked out for the role. Could not believe the Russo Brothers are attached to this series.

I wanted to see this in the theater, but missed it and whoo boy! I'm glad I didn't waste any more money than I did for the Blu ray rental. This movie is legitimately terrible. I did add a star for some of the cinematography and special effects, and Michelle Yeoh is great as always, but the story is trash. Seems that there are three different types of people who watched this: 1) those that want to push/buy into a particular ideological agenda, 2) people who didn't understand it, but want to pretend they do because of a weird narcissism that makes them feel smart, and 3) people who rightly saw through this piece of flaming hot garbage. Clearly, I fall in the last category. This movie was a total mess of incoherent ideas, clichés, and a downright juvenile attempt to make a simple idea/ending seem deep. It's also pretty astounding that a movie with this much chaos and activity can be so... utterly... boring. It hits a point where your brain just checks out because everything becomes irrelevant and desensitizing as a result.
