Eternals aims to be more than an MCU movie. It works hard - though doesn't always succeed - at being a character-driven, morally intriguing story that feels, for the most part, like a movie that exists outside of the MCU. The large cast of characters each have depth and specific motives and drive the story in a mostly villain-less plot, which I found to be a refreshing change.
Eternals isn't perfect - it sometimes falls back to the tried-and-tested Marvel formula a bit too often - but it is definitely [IMHO] a good Marvel movie and more than that, a good movie.
