If you are a Tarantino fan you will feel right at home for the most part. The greasy humor which envelopes the satire makes a great kaleidoscope of late ‘60’s hollywood. Pitt and Dicaprio are in full form with many unforgettable hilarious scenes while cameos from Bruce Dern, Al Pacino, and several others icing on the cake. What keeps this wonderful movie from elevating is cohesiveness. Tarantino is never one to worry about loose ends or classic storytelling conventions, but in Once Uppn a Time, there are many moments when you don’t really feel like you are going anywhere with any of the main characters and the Manson crowd makes for a very predictable ending notwithstanding the final twist. A prequel and sequel is perhaps the real plot. Time will tell.
