Carry On had potential - great cast, an interesting concept, and the promise of a tense airport thriller. But letโs be honest, the execution? Total chaos.
The premise revolves around an airport security officer being blackmailed into letting a dangerous bag through, which sounds thrilling on paper. But then the movie goes off the rails with scenes so implausible they make you want to yell at the screen.
Take Sofia Carsonโs character, Nora, being chased through the airport. Not a single security guard notices or cares? They just let a crazy looking guy chase after her through an entire parking lot, which, by the way, is somehow completely empty. Itโs an airport! When have you ever seen a parking lot without a soul around? Then thereโs the baggage belt fight where Kopek (Taron Egerton) is fighting it out with another guy, and again, nobody shows up? No staff, no passengers, nothing. Itโs an airport, not a ghost town.
The plot holes are everywhere. Itโs like the movie forgot it was set in one of the most monitored and crowded places on Earth. And thatโs the problem - every time you try to get into it, something ridiculous happens, pulling you right back out.
The only saving grace here is the cast. Jason Bateman brings his usual charm, and Sofia Carson and Taron Egerton do what they can, but even they canโt save this mess. Itโs frustrating because you can see the potentialโit just gets buried under absurdity.
Carry On isnโt the worst movie out there, but itโs one of those thatโll have you rolling your eyes more than gripping your seat. Watch it for the performances, but donโt expect it to make any sense.
