Very subtle i e Japanese examination of what a mother/actress is capable of sacrificing in the way of familial/other relationships in the name of art. A life balance is achieved, but we are left with an uneasy feeling that the price has been uncomfortably high somewhere along the line. Splendidly acted and very engaging film which would benefit from a second viewing, if only one wanted to suffer further reservations about the moral ambiguity of it all.

Predictable. Faded a bit towards the end. Utterly delightful.

The noise - unbearable. The visuals - alienating. The sex - foolishly unrealistic. The totality - a waste of time, energy, money, and the talents of Donald Sutherland.

The unthinking are killing the planet (very nasty rich) versus a solitary visionary. No guesses who comes off best.

Over the hill singer works out relationship with very dull nerd with a lot of noise in the process. Embarrassingly enjoyable!

Watched it to the end to test my powers of endurance. Ridley Scott has lost touch with reality.

A not very heart wringing WWl tragedy of a forward thinking young woman and three dull young men.

An over complicated tale about a horrid narcissist, with some dodgy costumes and even dodgier tea cups!

Gripping, rather chilly tale, about a rich girl who messes things up as thoroughly as Strindberg's Miss Julie.

Pretentious and portentous exposure of a horribly cold character, which could have been leavened by plenty of fine music and wasn't. Ultimately as boring as it gets.
