If there are any teachers reading this: I’m BEGGING you. Don’t show this to your students. I was made aware that this is making the rounds on a few teaching resource forums, and I need you to know that this documentary sucks. This is the corniest and most boring thing I’ve ever seen. Please take some time to look for better documentaries on the same subject—personal favourites of mine are the Frontline PBS series on technology, and Terms and Conditions May Apply (also on Netflix) is so much better. Not to overstate my point, but I hate every part of this documentary. I hate the stupid acting. I hate the blatant misrepresentation of AI technology. I hate its meagre attempt to be balanced and awful handling of the topic of online radicalisation. It’s just bad—and there are a ton of other worthy resources on the same topic that are so much better than this. I truly don’t get the hype.
