Emily Deschanel and Madeline Arthur carried this show - really the only ones who could deliver their lines with better cadence than a middle school play's cast. The script was very Riverdale-esque in the way that it sounded like whoever wrote it never actually interacted with a high schooler. Maybe it's just me but I don't think high schoolers really speak like this or giggle this often. The ending was actually really well done but the rest of the show was kind of mid. Overall.....incredibly underwhelming. My favourite part was literally when it ended

I have never laughed so much during a comedy show's pilot. This show is everything I could wish for and more - stupid jokes, running bits, puns and dry british humour. All that and Tom Ellis. This is going to be a repeat comfort show up there with Peep Show and Flight of the Conchords and Please Like Me and New Girl and Parks and Recreation. My only critique is the laugh track but hey ho it was the early 2000s so I'll let it, as I call it "slide."

This show is one of the best crime dramas I have ever watched and I've watched quite a few including Law & Order SVU, Broadchurch, True Detective, Mindhunter and Criminal Minds. The first season is kind of meh and makes it difficult to convince people to watch the show. But from there, it gets so much better. The setting is beautiful - I am now determined to visit Shetland. The acting is amazing without being over the top. The storylines unfold so slowly but in a way that doesn't feel rushed or so farfetched as to not be believable. The characters are all so rich and multidimensional and. each one develops in their own way over the seasons. Best of all, the writers have made it almost impossible to guess the "whodunnit" of the episode...I have tried and failed on numerous occasions to beat DI Perez to the punch. 7 seasons of this show is simply not enough and I so look forward to an 8th season.
