I really enjoyed this book, as it was filled with one of my favorite plot elements--unreliable narrators (hence, the title!). However, as other reviewers have stated, I think it would have been better to make Avery, the missing girl, a bit older. Her attitudes, actions, and speech seemed a bit too sophisticated for a nine-year-old, even a highly intelligent one. But, as her own mother observes, children can be manipulative--and Avery is a corker! Not high literature, but an addictive summer read, for sure!
