Ram Nyberg’s “Badge, Tie and Gun” reads like watching a motion picture. He paints dramatic and often horrifyingly detailed moments of life and death struggles on the streets. He does this by calling on his long experience as a Miami Dade Patrol Officer and ultimately Homicide Detective.
Ram is keenly aware of his audience, and intersperses humor to help the reader over the rough spots.
Ram also allows us to see his vulnerability as a man. Police work will take its toll on the practitioners of it as well as their families. Ram does not flinch away from this reality as he tells this/his story.
“Badge, Tie and Gun” reads like a novel, but is also a police procedural. We learn in detail how detectives build their cases. Ram has been involved with many of the high profile homicide cases that most of us have only seen or read about in the news. Ram invites his audience to see the “good, bad and ugly” behind these true stories.
“Badge, Tie and Gun” should be required reading in every police academy in the country. It would also prove invaluable reading for every veteran cop with ambitions to be a detective.
Ram wraps up by inviting us to share his optimistic view of life; truly inspiring!
