One of the best reads of my lifetime. I highly recommend every American, regardless of your circumstances read this novel. I of course heard of the Great Migration and had general knowledge of it. Wilkerson did an amazing job of bringing real life stories to the pages. I could not stop reading and wanted more. My great-grandfathers migrated from Florida and Virginia to New Jersey. My grandparents met in Trenton and raised their family there. I wish they were still alive so I could ask more questions. As a community, we need to remind the young people of the sacrifices that were made so they can live free of Jim Crow. I was shocked that some black folks, free American citizens, had to sneak out of the South.
