It is a woke movie, literally. It is the fantasy of a failed Asian family doing tough in the land of the USA. Very condescending and offensive to those who are struggling in the land of the USA and being Asian, well, being Chinese in particular. All the hype about the movie may be well meaning, but in the end, those Chinese-Americans are hopeless and clueless, as no one would recognise them as Americans, nor do they have any inclination to be anyone other than being the Chinese. Multi-universe is the code name for escapism, that is all, a distraction of the real, harsh, brutal, hopeless world.
