I kept waiting for something to happen that made this movie worth Best Picture, Best Actor, two best supporting actor, best supporting actress, Best Director, and Best Editing Oscar nods. I still am. While maybe the acting was good it was certainly painful to watch. A lot of anticipation with no reward. As a life long movie fan, and by no means an expert, my view is that the directing and the editing made for a slow, dull, and beautiful movie. Thee is a lot about the look of the movie i liked. The houses and the town look very 1920s . Very much a cowboy movie with cars and lights but a cowboy feel. The cinematography was great. There were weird, almost surreal editing additions of insects and such that made no sense to me but I am sure did to others. While i am glad I watched the movie there was nothing in it that would make me re-watch it in the future.
