Susan Brind Morrow’s new book, "Water: Poems and Drawings," is a treasure of a collection of poetry and beautiful drawings. From the opening pages right through to the end, the grouping of poems and drawings found my heart. Readers will discover joy and awe as the author captures moments of ecstatic beauty, gaiety, and excitement in the world around her. The collection is divided into two parts: Part I, Water; Part II: Heaven is a Wetland. The poems in both sections are filled with energy, a reverence for being alive, and a wonderful agitation that feels like music. A couple of favorites are “Pyasa” and an untitled poem about first seeing Zanzibar. The writing thoughout is filled with praise, and the drawings are delicate and gorgeous. Part II, Heaven is a Wetland, is wonderfully stirring with page after page of enchanting lines that that engage all the senses. Highly recommend this unique and elegant book.
