Beautiful film. The small stuff is what matters in this movie. The reference to mythology, the idea of one’s way of seeing, then painting another, and everything loops around to connect in the end. It’s a forbidden love story, with a practical outcome. The burden of family obligation in the 1800s is palpable, and sad to us now, but expected then. I love this movie so much, but you need to be willing to see the beauty in a script that doesn’t require many words.
