It’s ok, the show has some excellent cinematography, CGI and looks well put together and accurately depicts what middle earth looks like with absolutely beautiful scenery. The story and the characters however, i’m not the biggest fan of, it feels as if the writers watched the trilogy once over and thought that was enough. Orcs are depicted as wholesome misunderstood creatures that just want to live peacefully instead of the main evil creature in middle earth, also suddenly theres women and children orcs about now, this is not world of war craft. Not only that but they made every other race in middle earth look rather soft, in the original trilogy the elves were wise and well organised showing little emotion and outstanding strategy which made for amazing battle scenes, in the show they’re flimsy and just men with pointy ears, theres no differentiation between the two races apart from that. I had such high expectations for calebrimbor as a shadow of mordor fan, being that he has the strength to fight off Sauron in the game, but no, hes just another flimsy character who makes rings and then cries about it. Theres also so many stories happening at once, i honestly could not care less about these sort of hobbit people and their home it is the driest side story ive ever watched in my life. The numenor sub story is also just dry, i dont care who the king or queen is, its boring. All in all its a visually pleasing show but the story is rubbish and it pays little homage to what came before it.
