I consume everything mafia related. Movies, shows, books, etc. This show has potential don’t get me wrong; but it is falling short. They are coming on strong with some stereotypical plot points which can either make this show better or it’s going to get boring and predictable quickly. The cast is A+. Pierce and Helen are great! Tom Hardy always does well. There is a good cast here. There is something certainly lacking though. The plot with the teenagers is eh. There needs to be better main conflict or conflicts that make sense. Better establishing of why we should care for the characters. This cast is excellent yet they don’t seem to be utilizing their talent. I have watched both episodes now so maybe my opinion will change since the characters. Better building of everything it’s falling just short. It’s almost hard to follow because it’s hard to understand why we should care for these characters. I have watched the first two episodes and both left me wanting more of an understanding of what was happening. Maybe I will be proved wrong, sure hope I am wrong because I want to like this show. I hope the next episodes expand and really show the plot points. The teenager plot points are not it though. The person comparing it to the Godfather. The Godfather is so highly regarded because of the establishment of why we should like the characters. When we all watched Sonny die, we knew it would fundamentally change everything. The plot and established characters made you care what was happening. Although many people dislike Godfather 3, the plot was centered around Micheal a family man, losing his family and dying alone. A depressing end to a terrible person who viewers loved. In the Sopranos, they established Tony as having a double life but being a family man was his personality. Most mafia based shows and movies are based on liking the bad guy. And hating that you like the bad guy but liking them anyway. The line between good and bad is fundamental is establishing a good character. The teenager plot points in Mobland fall short, it should have been a 4-5 episode plot point or even next season plot. I really hope it gets better with more episodes. Again, I hope I am wrong but fingers crossed this show turns around. People will not watch a show without establishing better characters.
