When he published this book the idea of microcontinents annealing themselves to a larger one was still considered an anomaly. Now we have found they are the rule rather than the exception. I think this is one of McPhee’s greatest of his geology series.

While this isn’t Cormac’s best book, it is indeed a great insight into his mind and intellect. I’m sure many can nitpick his science but the damned guy is a genius as well as a great writer.
