I really wanted to love this production, especially given the impressive lineup of talent involved, but I have to admit it left me feeling a bit bored. It reminded me of those long car rides when you keep asking, โAre we there yet?โโI just wished the pace could have picked up a bit!
While the set design and characters were visually stunning, I felt the storyline lacked a bit of spark. It conveyed a lovely message about embracing uniqueness and diversity, but I found myself wanting more engagement. There was definitely potential, but it didnโt resonate with me as much as I had hoped.
The dance choreography felt somewhat like a patchwork of various styles, which made it seem less original. I believe that if someone like Andrew Lloyd Webber had been involved in directing and editing the musical segments, he could have truly brought the mystery and passion we often expect, making the storyline feel like a thrilling ride while tugging at our heartstrings.
So, the best review I can give is 3 stars. I can understand the perspective of those who rated it 1 star. I suspect that many of the 5-star reviews come from individuals connected to the production or the budget; perhaps they know someone in the show. I even noticed people walking out of the theater one hour into the three-hour performance. I wanted to leave with them, but I stayed just so that I could write this review.
