Subverting expectations over good storytelling That's all Rian Johnson cared about, not about making a good movie but creating shock value. Everything set up from Force Awakens is dropped on it's head, nothing is left for a follow up, pointless 45 minute subplot that takes shots at the 1%, Snoke's death, Rey's parents being nobody, no lightsaber fight, lack of character development, lack of world building, lack of story progression, treatment of Luke Skywalker, Leia in space and Rose and Holdo. How anyone can call this movie the best SW movie let alone a good movie is beyond me.
