Thailand has quite a few gems when it comes to movies and TV shows, Netflix has picked up a few of those and Hormones is among them. It's a little bit old now, I actually remember watching a really badly subtitled fansub back in the day of some season 1 episodes. It was good to watch the whole thing with accurate subs.
Hormones is a gritty teen drama along the same line as Skins in places but more realistic, I thought the first season starts a bit slow but the second half is where it really takes off. Season two is the real gem of this show, it's full of interesting stories that either started here or began during the first season and come to a climax with fireworks and all. They don't pull any punches in talking about social issues from teen pregnancy, gay relationships, abortion, the education system, stalking, death, drugs and more. All while the characters try to navigate their teen years trying to figure out who they are and where they want to be in future. The third season goes back to some of the slowness they began with in season one, no idea why but it feels a bit more of a slow teen drama and takes a while to find its feet. Many popular cast members also left after season two and new characters don't fill their shoes so well.
Most characters in the show are likeable, some you enjoy more than others but you feel what they are going through and all their emotions feel genuine. Apart from the incredibly dull Oil most characters didn't bother me even if I didn't like them as much. Season three also suffered because it had more of Oil, I guess her whole character is that she's supposed to be some no life,no friends kid but the actress plays it with zero personality or likeability. It's hard to be sympathetic to why she does the things she does when she's hard to like in the first place.
S1 and 2 are definitely a must watch, only watch S3 if you really love the show or feel one of the characters in S1 or 2 was underrated and needed more screen time and they are a main character of S3 like I did.
