Tapsee never disappointed me till now and it was a Friday night so I thought let's give it a try.
Moreover, the names like โDinesh panditโ, โRani Kashyap and โJwalapurโ made me nostalgic.
The movie starts slow, like really slow. The first half could have been crisper. But it was like a murder mystery novel and there are hardly any ones that develop an interest in the first 100 pages. There are some fun moments, especially with Rishuโs mom. Her character is developed very nicely. She is not an evil mother in law just an employer who was expecting certain qualifications in her employee after a great interview.
And who also regrets not asking deeper questions like the recipe of the dishes that were claimed to be made by Rani or the stitches of the embroidery on the cushions. She is the manager who ends up doing all the projects herself after hiring the wrong candidate as there is no option of firing her now.
She is believable and kind of cute. The same goes with the father in law who is giving projects to the employee which match her skill set (Parlor work).
Amidst all this, the relationship between Rishu and Rani is in the doldrums which I feel could have been more justified as the buildup was too quick. Then there is an entry of another male termed later as โAshiqโ which seemed to come straight of out Dainik Jagranโs third page.
From here the story took pace. You can notice that with the โrightโ type of motivation one can acquire any skill set and then become good at its application too.
I really liked the movie because even after being a murder mystery, it never loses touch with humor. Characters and conversations in the Police station were fun.
Tapsee was great as usual. Vikrant did a marvelous job. First as a heartbroken husband and then a revengeful love struck. In some of the scenes, the evil smile on his face was really scary.
Any more details will act as a spoiler. My recommendation would be to go and watch the movie.
