No government would ever find a hottie like that girl useless and execute her... - you're telling me a ASAT test is going to be the line drawn, so there isn't any advertising or entertainment in this world? They don't need fine looking women? Can she dance or sing? How is knowing multiple choice answers any kind of realistic, no - its just not realistic at all... because their world is exactly our world - but with this test, they don't show a real different society, with different motivations... why would anyone be playing football in this universe? That's a skill unrelated to the ability to pass a multiple choice tests, which is this societies only measurement. If they showed a completely different society with different goals an motivations, maybe I could have bought it, the writers are only making a poor attempt at a dystopian future a la - 1984 or 'Brave New World' (the books, not the wretched film), but all they have is our society with a lame and completely arbitrary multiple choice test... maybe if they added more dimensions to the test it could make more sense, sure she scored low in the choice part, but make another part of the test, where she could be judged on other important factors, like beauty, talent, etc, maybe she paints or plays the violin... then she's okay, if would be so much more edgy and realistic, then show that people would be executed if they could pass any of the requirements at all, they had no talent, they're ugly, they can't pass the multiple choice test... those people could be executed, and it could ask a valid question, what are the real measurements of a person's worth, and worth as a contribution to society... Only a purely Authoritarian Society would have these kinds of standards, they don't show that kind of bleak world, the 'Thinning's' world is more like '90210 with a scary test...' I couldn't even swatch it all the way through, its not even cheesy enough to enjoy for laughs... BOOOOOO!!!!! 1 1/3 stars... Probably only good if you're dumb and in Jr. High... that's about it... not for any mature kind of taste... Money has always been the standard of measurement, Alexander the Great created the world we live in to an extent that reaches us today... Why does the government fine you? Ask Alex... If you could pay your way out of the city he was conquering, you went free, if you were poor and couldn't pay, you went into slavery... its the same exact system today, but just in different degrees... so how did this 'Thinning' society change? There could no longer be rich or poor then, because this society judges on a test, and so .... I could go on but... you see its just lame. Its not convincing in anyway to anyone with half a brain.... It would have to be a completely Non-Sectarian, Authoritarian, Egalitarian, Fascist, society... and I don't see that at all... I mean football? What kind of Fascist state has time for that?
