Spoilers.
The best way I can describe this movie is it is a missed opportunity.
It started off strong with an interesting WW2 era 'there is something on the wing' supernatural premise. The introduction of the characters and mystery package created intrigue and the opportunity to develop a solid story. The main character getting locked in the belly turret to start off the action was well done.
It all went down hill from there. Researching the movie the original writer was #me too'd out of the production, they obviously decided to completely over compensate and get the first feminist film student they could find to rewrite the script and finish the job. The rest of the film is a nonsensical mess.
The mystery package offered a great opportunity to explain and tie the plot together i.e. the supernatural feel of the movie, the presence of the main character on the flight and her skillset, the attack of enemy planes further down south than they had seen them before, and of course the gremlin who just shows up for no reason in particular. I mean the real historical occult connections of WW2 could have been used.
But no, they went for an unrelated domestic violence and baby tangent, and started painfully pushing the feminist propaganda at every opportunity. The main character was a strong and interesting female lead as it was without the cringe worthy final scenes.
For example the unrelated gremlin, who for some reason really really wants that unrelated baby, is finally killed by the main character, alone with her bare hands of course, as the terrified militarily trained male characters are ordered to hold the baby and stay out of the way. She then proceeds to breastfeed in front of some burning pin-up girl plane art... we get it.
The bones of a good movie were there, it was just lost in the political agenda constantly being rammed down your throat.
