What do you want from a Christmas movie? Ok, so no Bing Crosby puttin' on a show, or Bruce Willis mowing down Euro-thieves, or creepy claymation, but this movie has pretty much everything else you require. It's light, holiday fun. Predictable, yes, so put it on when the whole family needs to kill some time together. Kids will like the CGI reindeer, Gramps and Grams will love Shirley McClain as the lead's witty mentor, and parents will get all the jokes and enjoy Hader and Kendrick as Santa's grown up children trying to make their way in the world. The two main story lines have heart (not terribly original, but neither is Christmas) and the movie will make you care and pay off with all the feels in the end. Of course, if you don't like fun skip it and enjoy your coal.
