The writing of this show is deplorable. I have read every High Republic novel, comic, and short story. The Acolyte pales in comparison. The acting in this show is also painful to watch, we’re talking daytime soap opera level of acting here. There is no consistency with any of the characters motives or actions, it is truly maddening to watch such an ill-conceived story arc. Throughout the first few episodes I praised the costume design and practical effects but at the series conclusion I can’t even find any redeeming qualities in those areas. Even the score is disorienting to the ears and weak. What an embarrassing and disappointing effort from Disney.
