Horribly paced movie about a lesbian couple just living their lives, but there's also zombies.
Pros of this movie;
- It's funny to watch. The attempts at being serious are laughable. None of the actors in this movie can believably emote so you just watch blank faces attempt to share what they believe an emotion is, and that can be funny.
- The zombie makeup. It's not great but it's nice. Lots of layers.
Cons:
- The pacing. This movie is SLOW. To put it in perspective, the first actual zombie in the movie doesn't show up until 52 minutes in. This is an almost 2 hour movie and you don't see a zombie until almost halfway. Every "fight" scene is just slow motion, steady cam, and boring. I don't much care for shaky cam, but there's no weight to the character's actions. On top of that the entire beginning of the movie is just the main characters living their lives. It's akin to the first few minutes of Birdemic, where they showed the protagonist driving to work, except spread over almost an hour. Yes there's some tidbits spread throughout that are a bit more "intense", but that's being very optimistic.
- The actual filming. This was filmed in 9 days, and it shows. They clearly did most of this in minimal shots and they didn't want to reshoot a lot.
- The zombies. They're smart, but not smart enough to chase prey into water. There's a scene where a protagonist drops into water surrounded by floating platforms. The zombies run around chasing her on the platforms but not once do any of them jump in. They most likely didn't want to waste their makeup budget, as any actual zombie would jump in with cornered prey. But then they know how to avoid being struck by a baseball bat? Inconsistent logic.
- The setting. This supposedly is at a luxurious Hawaiian resort. They couldn't record at Hawaii so they recorded at an abandoned resort in Thailand. It looks the part but it's missing a lot to set it up as a "Hawaiian resort." I don't know exactly what it is.
Not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. I'd recommend literally anything else. This is, at best, a B movie. That's being generous. I'd only recommend watching this movie out of sick curiosity or as a joke.
