Really annoying FL. Not sure why a CEO has been written as such as weak, indecisive, perennially startled/confused character. These qualities apply to both her personal and professional lives and I just don't see what the ML sees in her OR why her co-workers/subordinates respect her. The actress playing the FL is terrible at her job, or maybe it's just the way her character has been written. Either way, she is not compelling on screen. Korean actresses like Shin Hye-sun, Jin Ki-joo, Park Eun-bin, or Park Bo-young would've done a great job with this character (if the show is remade in Korean, maybe with a Japanese hero, I will definitely watch it).
The ML is adorable - except when he's not. I have always liked CJH (he was great in The Witch's Diner and Hot Stove League) and I appreciate the effort he must have put in to learn Japanese (a much harder language to learn than Korean - or maybe this is just my opinion since I am learning Korean and I find it easy since the Hangeul script has similarities with many Indian languages, including Hindi). However, his character often comes across as either immature or overly pushy, neither of which are attractive characteristics in a partner IMO.
I also can't see any romantic chemistry between the ML and FL. The so-called romantic scenes feel forced, especially later in the show (they have more chemistry in the early scenes where they have not yet met LOL). Add this to the lack of agency on the FL's part and this makes for a very boring rom-com show.
The FL's superpower is also not properly explored and the show wastes too much time on the 2nd FL/ML romance. The 2nd ML is also a slap-worthy character (no one can be this clueless, give me a break), the 2nd FL is just meh). I also found it strange that a guy studying animal science is interning at a chocolate company. What does his field of study have to do with the FL's business? I'm still scratching my head on this one. And then he just leaves his course mid-way to go back to Korea because of a romantic setback? It's very rare for international students - who work hard and spend lots of money to get to a foreign country - to do this on impulse for any reason.
The writers also did a shoddy job with the Professor's character, as if they couldn't decide whether to make him a good guy or a bad guy and changed their minds 77 times about his character arc between Episode 1 and Episode 10.
Only two redeeming qualities about this show: the cross-country collab and the sweet relationship between the FL and her otousan (Dad).
Overall opinion: Not worth the watch, even for CJH (ML). His other (Korean) shows are much better. Even a weak show like Unlock My Boss is better than this - although there too he has 0 chemistry with the FL.
