Underrated film. Yes it has a Studio B vibe to it but I connected very well with it. I feel like the people giving it a bad rating can't relate to it. I've known many girls who remind me of Lola. My mother was a narcissist. The mother's character was written perfectly. I've been in the boyfriends shoes. It's a simple story that happens daily in this world. Sad life. Life is sad. Still have to continue on and try to live a better future without the toxic people who have destroyed you. The past sucked but the future can be better. Have hope. I think the less you can relate to this, the more blessed you are. Consider yourself lucky. Thank God for her friend in the movie. Good support is priceless. Boyfriend is solid. Young women, when you have someone who truly loves you, appreciate them from the beginning. Genuinity is hard to find. If someone in your life is worth loving, love them before it's too late.
Edit: most of the negative comments, It's funny because they are letting their opinion of it be influenced by the politics of how the movie was made. A rich person isn't allowed to play the part of a poor person?? ๐
Hello. Every poor character is played by a wealthy actor. None of this should influence your view on the film. "Too many close ups." I liked the close ups. She's pretty and she's sad. The mother acted phenomenal. It's sooooo accurate of a narcissist mother. Her part was written spot on. Black friend is her Ace. Her unconditional love for her little brother was beautiful, wish she never went back to get the dog alone though.
