If you liked the first book but turned all the way up to 11, then you’ll probably enjoy this one. I say that, if you also don’t want much growth from the first one. Yes, new elements are introduced, new challenges and ideas, but ultimately, it’s a more or less the same story. That’s fine.
I want to rank this lower, but I think this book doesn’t aim to be deep or much more than a fanfic romp (I don’t mean this condescendingly, just objectively). There are a few things though, without getting into spoilers, that really diminish the meaning and growth of characters and the plot as a whole. So, I feel like very little things of meaning occurred, and that’s not the same as the first book, which was a beautiful underdog story. This . . . I don’t know. It really frustrated me, and I feel it ultimately doesn’t have much substance.
